In September, TikTok announced that it had reached the milestone of 1 billion people using the platform each month. While this is still some way off Facebook – 2.9 billion monthly active users and counting – this equates to a 45% increase since July 2020 and an astonishing 1718% growth since January 2018.
With TikTok managing to convert this rise into an increase in commercial activity, the channel’s importance is growing for brands – especially given its high youth-market penetration – and early adopters across the sports spectrum have been quick to take advantage.
