Botafogo de Futebol e Regatas – commonly known as Botafogo – is a Brazilian sports club based in Rio de Janeiro, whose football team currently plays in the Campeonato Serie B, the second-tier national league and in the Campeonato Carioca, the premier state competition of Rio de Janeiro. Botafogo hold a number of records in Brazilian football have provided many players for the Brazil national team over the years including the legendary forwards Garrincha and Jairzinho.
